Course Description

Our Bachelor of Fine Art enables you to create an art practice of relevance and value to contemporary culture, whether you choose to specialise in Fine Art to become an artist or alternatively select Art History and Curating. Highly regarded by the Australian arts industry and internationally recognised, Monash Fine Art is a dynamic and culturally diverse community that encourages freedom of expression. Our Bachelor of Fine Art has two specialisation which you select when you apply: * Bachelor of Fine Art * Bachelor of Art History and Curating Fine Art is an experimental studio-based degree with a strong focus on contemporary fine art. It is designed to enables you to explore and develop a broad range of art practices so that you can develop your passions and your artistic voice in ways you may not yet have imagined. With purpose built facilities, Monash Fine Art provides burgeoning artists with resources, expert knowledge and a dynamic artist community. Art History and Curating develops your understanding and appreciation of art including its origins and significance, making you ready for a career in art history, criticism, curating and cultural production. Uniquely you study alongside Artists and Practitioners and have access to a range of on-campus galleries and local and international exhibiting artists, so that you are already part of the art community gaining first-hand experience and insights.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements 1. Equivalent Australian Year 12 with required score. 2. All applicants must satisfy the following prerequisites or their equivalents. 3. Australian VCE subjects -English Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL. 4. IB subjects- English At least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL. 5. VET Certificate IV, diploma or advanced diploma graduates: To be considered, applicants will normally require at least 60% average. Preference will be given to students whose prior studies are related to the course in which they are seeking admission. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements. 6. University: Two single units at an Australian higher education institution satisfy minimum entry requirements, but more units may be useful for selection, especially in areas of study related to the course in which admission is being sought. ***All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites. ***Entire academic record This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.
